How does it actually work?
Lay it out, scatter your dog's kibble or treats down between the felt strips, and let their nose do the rest. A meal that normally disappears in under a minute takes most dogs ten to fifteen minutes to work through. No training required — foraging is instinct, so nearly every dog figures it out on the first try.
Won't my dog just push it around the room?
That's the usual complaint with cheap mats. The base here is non-slip fabric that grips the floor, so the mat holds its position while your dog noses through it — no chasing it under the couch halfway through dinner.
Which pets is it right for?
Foraging is an instinct rather than a trained skill, so it works across breeds, sizes, and ages — puppies through seniors. It's generous enough for a large breed to work properly and compact enough not to overwhelm a small one. Cats, rabbits, and guinea pigs take to it just as readily.
How do I clean it?
Shake the crumbs out, then hand wash in warm water with a mild soap and hang it to air dry. We recommend hand washing over the machine — it keeps the felt strips thick and springy, which is what makes the hiding spots deep enough to be a challenge.
Can I take it with me?
That's what the drawstring is for. Pull it and the mat gathers into a bowl, then packs down small enough for a backpack, a tote, or a glovebox. You can also hang it on a hook between meals rather than leaving it out on the floor.
Will it actually settle my dog down?
